CELEBRATE MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT WITH A SCENIC WALK

We'll celebrate the Summer Solstice and Midsummer's Night with a lovely, scenic walk in the Ballard area in the late afternoon and early evening of Saturday, June 21. The 10-kilometer, non-competitive walk will begin at the Nordic Heritage Museum, and will have a 5-kilometer alternate route for anyone wishing to do a shorter outing. We'll enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound. Part of the 10K walk will use the newly-extended Burke-Gilman Trail.

Walkers can register and start the walk anytime between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and must finish no later than 10:00 PM. There will be water and restrooms at the start/finish and along the 10 km route. This walk is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs able to navigate curbs. Pets are permitted, but not in buildings or on the beach at Golden Gardens Park. Owners are responsible for leash and clean-up laws. There is no charge for the walk. IVV credit is available for a fee.

The Nordic Heritage Museum, founded in 1980, highlights the contributions of Nordic immigrants and their descendants in the development of the Pacific Northwest, and serves as a cross-cultural bridge among people from the Nordic countries and the United States. It is the only museum in the country that represents the cultural history of all five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Museum is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on the day of the event for a small admission fee.

Turn left (south) on 32nd, and go to N.W. 68th St. Turn left on N.W. 68th. The Museum is on your right. Parking is in the Museum parking lot or on the street.
